Target group:
Electrical engineers, technicians and supervisory staff with responsibility for safe and efficient utilization of High Voltage distribution systems.
Course objective:
To enable participants to safely and efficiently undertake operational and maintenance duties on HV and LV electrical distribution networks & equipment.
Teaching method:
Power Point presentations with questions and answers for each subject and exercises utilizing Procedures and Permits
PROGRAMME:
- Electrical Hazards: Shock/Arc Flash
- Calculation of fault levels
- Precautions and methods of control
- Use of Electrical Safety rules for HV/LV working
- Safety standard for isolation of HV electrical system
- Operation of switchgear, use of contactor/isolators, circuit breakers and HRC
- Generator capacity diagrams/standing load and available capacity
- Practical No 1: isolate & prepare a safe work place to undertake maintenance on a 6.6 KV/440 distributor transformer include the issue of any permits/precautions and switching programmes required.
